President Trump has been in a feud with the widow of a fallen soldier, because of course that’s happening. Meanwhile, Gen. John Kelly has gotten in on the action, calling out Congresswoman Frederica Wilson for her comments on the president’s interactions with the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson.
On Monday’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah expressed his opinion on the matter and suggested Gen. Kelly needs to apologize to Wilson. “He didn’t just step into the fight, he started throwing punches,” Noah said of Kelly.
Kelly first defended Trump after Congresswoman Wilson revealed the president told Johnson’s widow that her husband knew what he signed up for. Kelly attacked Wilson’s character, calling her an “empty barrel,” whatever that means.
The General accused Wilson of bragging in a speech about getting funding for an FBI building in Florida. Video of her speech shows that not to be true.
“She’s not an empty barrel,” Noah said. “She’s someone who deserves an apology.”
