Hurricanes Harvey and Irma did millions of dollars worth of damage to Texas and Florida over the last two weeks, and now many of those whose homes were destroyed will look to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for help in rebuilding.
Unfortunately for them, that department is run by a neurosurgeon. On Tuesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers checked in on Ben Carson and looked at how prepared the former presidential candidate will be for this hurricane aftermath.
Not only is Carson unprepared, the Trump administration isn’t helping. “Money to help homeowners and businesses rebuild after disaster goes through HUD’s $3 billion block grant program that Trump has proposed getting rid of altogether,” Meyers said. “While Trump is busy praising agencies that are helping with disaster relief, they are also the same agencies whose funding he wants to slash.”
“Now is not the time to cut back on disaster relief programs, especially not when hurricanes are lining up like they have numbers at a deli.”
