Trevor Noah tries to make sense of Trump’s Afghanistan policy

In a speech Monday, President Trump revealed that he would deploy more troops to Afghanistan to fight ISIS and stabilize the region. On Tuesday’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah tried to make sense of the announcement that surprised many hardline conservatives.

“I know that he’s been president for seven months, but seeing Donald Trump making military decisions is still weird for me,” Noah reacted. “I mean he must be the first human being in history who gets to command an army after starring in a Pizza Hut commercial.”

In his speech, Trump called himself a “problem solver.” “Yeah, Trump is a ‘problem solver’ the same way Godzilla is a city planner,” Noah joked. “The only way Donald Trump can consider himself a problem solver is if he stops creating problems!”

According to Noah, this was to “Book Report Trump,” but even though he spoke in “complete sentences and coherent thoughts,” Trump managed to call terrorists “losers.”

“Even as he is escalating a war, Trump has to throw in his catch phrase,” Noah remarked. Up next, “Bazinga!”

Trump told his crowd that he flip flopped on Afghanistan after “sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. In other words, when you’re president of the United States.”

“Oh! So that’s what ‘sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office’ means! Being president! I’m so glad he explained it to us the same way Gen. Kelly explained it to him!”
