Stephen Colbert reenacts Kellyanne Conway’s ‘fun with words’ delusion

On Thursday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert mocked Kellyanne Conway’s latest oddity regarding Donald Trump Jr’s meeting with a Russian lawyer last year. Conway went on Fox News Wednesday night to perform some prop comedy in defense of the president’s son.

“Trump’s not the only one defending his son,” Colbert said of the president’s excuses for his son’s scandal. “Last night, senior White House adviser and Satan’s trophy wife Kellyanne Conway appeared on Fox News and used a little visual aid to drive home her point.”

In the clip, Conway held up a piece of paper with the words “conclusion” and “collusion,” then crossed off the second word. “What’s the conclusion? Collusion? No. We don’t have that yet.” She then held up a sheet that said “illusion” and “delusion,” before noting, “I just thought we’d have some fun with words.”

“Fun! I want to try,” Stephen remarked, holding up a few pieces of paper of his own. “Trump Jr. tried to articulate,” he said reading one paper, then holding it higher to reveal the word written below, “but that turned out to incriminate.

“It’s something even an idiot would anticipate,” Colbert explained with the second page. “And now he’s going to be an inmate.”
