Stephen Colbert finds smoking gun as Trump Jr. ‘Deepthroats himself’ by releasing Russia emails

On Tuesday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert reacted to Donald Trump Jr‘s tweets releasing emails showing his purpose for meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya to get dirt on Hillary Clinton during last year’s campaign.

“What are you doing? Who told him to do this? Does he even have a lawyer?” Colbert asked. “Because you rarely see a cop show where the lawyer bursts into the interrogation room and shouts, ‘Keep talking! In fact, tweet out everything you know!’”

“Let’s dive into these emails,” Colbert said, “Remember, it’s going to take careful parsing to prove that the Trump campaign was privately colluding with Russia to get damaging confidential information about Hillary Clinton.”

“This is the first email: ‘Subject: Russia — Clinton — private and confidential.’”

“Let’s stop right there…We are five words in, and four of them are ‘Russia, Clinton, private, confidential.'” Colbert remarked. “The only one that’s innocent is ‘and.’”

After diving further into the emails, Colbert paused to admit something. “So, at this point I would like to issue a formal apology,” he said. “I’d like to apologize to Eric Trump. We always thought you were the dumb one. We were wrong.”

Colbert also put together a little diagram of the connections leading to Trump Jr’s meeting. Watch the clip below to see what it looks like when all the evidence comes together.
