Stephen Colbert exposes Donald Jr’s meeting with Russian lawyer/Bond girl, ‘Corruption Galore’

The Russia saga continues for the Trump administration. The New York Times reported this weekend that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer last year in hopes of uncovering dirt on Hillary Clinton. On Monday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert returned from a holiday hiatus to dig into the news of Donald Jr’s string of excuses following the report.

“There is no evidence of collusion,” Colbert began, “or even the desire to collude with the Russians, by anyone in the Trump campaign… is something that was true 48 hours ago.”

“You could knock me over with whatever you use to knock someone over who isn’t the least bit surprised,” he said. “Everything you think is with this family turns out to be.”

Colbert admitted that this meeting between Trump Jr. and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya (who may be Bond girl, Corruption Galore), isn’t a “smoking gun” pointing to collusion, “but it is a gun meeting with a Russian bullet about their mutual desire to smoke. Pretty damning!”

Don Jr. made the excuse that he didn’t know who he was meeting with, or what it was about, yet he asked Jared Kushner and former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort to be there with him.

“We’re supposed to believe that during the height of the presidential campaign, on the advice of a guy he met at the Miss Universe pageant, Don Jr. said, ‘Hey Jared, Paul, I know you guys are a little busy right now, but I need you to come to a meeting. With who? I don’t know. About what? I’m not telling you.”
