Seth Meyers calls Trump’s phony ‘Time’ cover the ‘literal definition of fake news’

On Wednesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers took a “Closer Look” at recent Trump news, like his continued friendship with Fox News, and his own little piece of fake news.

“The Fox & Friends shower Trump with so much praise they’re starting to sound like the helicopter parents of a shitty private school kid,” Meyers said, before mimicking their defenses, “‘Our Donny would never collude with Russia, how dare you!’”

“But even when they’re trying to protect Trump, his friends at Fox sometimes do more harm than good,” Meyers said referring to Sean Hannity’s recent comments that brought up Trump’s “embarrassing rumors” about Russian prostitutes. “You are a terrible wingman!” said Meyers to Hannity.

Trump will take praise from anyone, even if he has to make it up. It was recently revealed that the president has a phony Time magazine in many of his resorts with himself on the cover. “That’s right, Donald Trump hung a fake Time magazine cover with his face on it in his private golf clubs,” Meyers explained. “That is the literal definition of fake news.”

“This would be the saddest thing I’ve ever heard if it wasn’t the funniest thing I’ve ever heard,” he remarked. “Do you also get your presidential salary paid to you in giant novelty checks?”
