Thursday morning brings the summer’s biggest blockbuster. And no, this isn’t another superhero film adaptation. The most eagerly-awaited bit of entertainment this week will be on C-SPAN3, where Former FBI Director James Comey will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee about his talks with President Trump concerning Michael Flynn and the Russia investigation.
On Wednesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers previewed Comey’s testimony after the former FBI Director released the statement he will read before the committee Thursday. “And it contains some damning and truly bizarre details about Comey’s uncomfortable interactions with Trump,” Meyers said.
Comey begins by saying he has spoken with Trump nine time in his first four months in office, despite only speaking to former President Obama twice. Trump “would not leave him alone” and kept asking him to the White House for private chats and one solo dinner.
“Comey had no idea the meeting would be a private, one-on-one encounter,” Meyers said. “This is starting to sound less like All the President’s Men and more like a Lifetime original movie — James Comey and Donald Trump star in Suspicious Attraction.”
