Things are not looking good for President Trump. The past two weeks have revealed scandal after scandal, and now that White House attorneys are researching impeachment law, everyone is preparing for the possible end to the Trump presidency.
On the season finale of Saturday Night Live, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson and the SNL cast prepared for the end of the Trump administration by bidding a fond farewell to the Trump team, because no one knows if they will outlast the show’s summer hiatus.
In a cold open mimicking Kate McKinnon’s rendition as Hillary Clinton after she lost the election, Baldwin sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” as members of the cast and Scarlett Johansson joined him as the members of the Trump team they portrayed throughout the season.
This has been the highest rated season of SNL in 23 years thanks to its parodies of last year’s election and the ensuing circus of the Trump White House. Alec Baldwin has already said he probably won’t be back next year to play the controversial president, so whether Trump remains in office or not, this was indeed a farewell for the cast.
This wonderful season may be over, but you can relive the best of the year’s political sketches by checking out our SNL tag. Hallelujah!
