Seth Meyers declares Trump ‘deeply unfit’ to be president

So much has come out of Washington in the past week, late night hosts are going to have to start working through the weekend to keep up. On Tuesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers took a “Closer Look” at Monday’s Russia scandal while news had just broken about another Comey controversy.

Meyers broke down the latest. “On Monday, we learned that then-President Obama warned Trump not to hire former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. On Tuesday, Trump fired FBI Director James Comey—which Comey found out about on TV. On Wednesday, he met in the Oval Office with Russian diplomats, including an accused Russian spy. On Thursday, he admitted that he fired Comey specifically because of the Russian investigation. On Friday, he threatened Comey with secret tapes of their conversations. On Saturday, the Justice Department began interviewing new candidates for FBI director. Yesterday, we learned that Trump gave the Russians highly classified information. And today, we learned that Trump asked Comey to shut down the FBI’s investigation into Flynn.”

“And, if you’re wondering why I didn’t mention Sunday,” Meyers remarked, “that was Mother’s Day, so obviously Trump was doing what all normal husbands do: spending the day alone on a golf course in a different state, which, in fairness, is the best gift he could have given her.”

Once he got to the news that Trump asked James Comey not to investigate Michael Flynn, Meyers had just about had enough. “We need Republicans to stand up and do something, because right now we got a President who is deeply unfit for the office.”

    1. Pubs consider tRump their useful idiot — someone who won’t stand in their way while they run roughshod over the country.
Pubs control the House, the Senate, a good part of the Judiciary and the Executive. The Framers never envisioned gerrymandering could so thoroughly break their beautiful system of checks and balances or that pols would become so thoroughly corrupt and morally bankrupt that they would completely abdicate their duties.

    2. The monkeywrench in their plan; the Pubs didn’t plan for tRump to be such an overarching screw-up that he would stifle their agenda. That takes special skill.

  2. He is a comedian and his job and position is to make jokes of the current situations and make us laugh. The irony is he doesn’t need writers or exaggerate what is right in front of us to view unaltered. It’s sad and shameful, but funny as hell.
