Stephen Colbert calls Trump ungrateful for firing FBI Director James Comey

On Tuesday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert reacted to the fresh news that President Trump had fired James Comey. Apparently, the president dismissed the controversial FBI Director for misspeaking about Hillary Clinton’s emails, but it might be because he was investigating Trump’s Russia ties.

“That shows no gratitude at all,” Colbert remarked. “Did Trump forget about the Hillary emails that Comey talked about? ‘Uh, thanks for the presidency, Jimmy, now don’t let the door hit you where the Electoral College split you.'”

“You fired the FBI director who has said, under oath, that he’s investigating the Trump administration’s ties to Russia. No rationale has been given yet, but it came on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.”

“I think he was fired because Comey couldn’t guess the name Rumpelstiltskin,” Stephen joked about the impish Sessions.

Stephen also mocked Trump’s letter to Comey, which was sure to remind Comey that he assured Trump “on three separate occasions that I am not under investigation.”

“Does everything have to be about him?” Colbert asked. “‘While I greatly appreciate you telling me that I am an amazing lover, I am leaving you for a younger woman on the advice of the Department of Justice.’”

  1. I hope I am wrong…but I think trump is going to go after Hillary now and “lock her up” because he promised his base…and Comey refused..also, a big deflection from Russian investigation
