On Friday’s Real Time, Bill Maher used his New Rule segment to mock liberals for trying to reach Trump voters. Today is Trump’s 100th day in office and after three months Trump voters still support the president despite his failures to enact policies he promised them.
“Liberals need to stop trying to win over Trump voters with facts,” he said. “You’re wasting your breath and you’re going to need it because the air’s not getting any better.”
Maher noted that supporters “aren’t changing their minds because the problem isn’t in the mind, it’s lower, it’s emotional.” They have a “gut feeling that the world has changed and they don’t like it,” and they think Trump will change it back.
Maher also had some words aimed at his fellow comedians. Trump’s supporters don’t care how he looks and acts. “The jury is in,” Maher remarked. “He looks and acts like a man who’s been painting his face with orange lead for forty years. His people know — they don’t care.”
“He could have Anne Frank‘s skeleton in his closet. They’d all vote for him again.”
