Today is President Trump’s 100th day in office, and much has been said this week about the president’s success and failures so far this year, but on Friday’s Real Time, Bill Maher broke down Trump’s governing style in his first 100 days into a three-step pattern.
The first phase for Trump is to say that everything is “easy to fix.” We saw this throughout his campaign as he planned to upheave the federal government in his first few months in office.
The second phase is to say, “Nobody knew that presidenting would be so hard.” Maher imitated Trump, saying, “It looked so easy in the movies when Morgan Freeman does it.”
“He doesn’t even know the basics, and I mean the basics,” Maher said. “Like how a bill becomes a law. How many branches of government we have. He didn’t know what Brexit was. He didn’t know who the Kurds were, the nuclear triad. The president is a baby with a mobile above his head. He’s just learning and learning.”
His third phase is to revert back to all of Barack Obama’s policies. “He’s like the Manchurian Candidate, but you don’t even have to hypnotize him!”
