Last week, The New York Times reported that Fox News and Bill O’Reilly had paid out $13 million in settlements to women who accused O’Reilly of sexual assault. On Sunday’s Last Week Tonight, John Oliver blasted O’Reilly for the allegations and Trump for defending him.
“Yes, Bill O’Reilly, who scientists hypothesize is kind of a dense nebula of boner and racism, has been paying out settlements for alleged harassment for years,” Oliver said, “And the details are pretty disturbing here, with the victims claiming things like verbal abuse, lewd comments, unwanted advances, and phone calls in which it sounded as if Mr. O’Reilly was masturbating.”
Many major companies pulled advertising from The O’Reilly Factor after the news came out. “To recap this story for you: Bill O’Reilly needs advertisers and Donald Trump needs to understand sexual harassment. And here is where we come in,” said Oliver, who has been placing ads on Fox News in the Washington, D.C. area to educate President Trump the only way he can—through his TV.
