President Trump announced Monday that he would create a new role in his administration for his son-in-law, Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner. Stephen Colbert took a little time on Monday’s Late Show to lampoon Trump and Kushner for the announcement.
Kushner’s role will be as head of the newly minted White House Office of American Innovation, which Colbert pointed out was “vague, but still better than the original title: The Bureau of Obvious Nepotism.”
“Jared Kushner will oversee a broad effort to overhaul the federal government,” reported Stephen, before adding, “And the government desperately needs overhaul. I mean, somebody keeps putting totally unqualified people in charge of really important stuff.”
“Kushner’s job will be to lead a team to ‘fix government with business ideas,’” Colbert said. “And you know he’s got great business ideas, like being born into a wealthy real estate family, or marrying into a wealthy real estate family. Why hasn’t the government tried that?”
