Late Night was off the air last week, so on Monday’s show, Seth Meyers took a “Closer Look” at Trump’s wiretapping claims and the Republican replacement for Obamacare. Now being called Trumpcare, the new plan has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle.
In order to win approval, Trump has apparently invited members of Congress to a night of pizza and bowling in the White House.
“That’s right, Trump is trying to sway members of Congress with an 8-year-old’s birthday party,” joked Meyers, before imitating Trump saying, “Also, good news, Steve Bannon has agreed to be a terrifying clown.”
Proponents of the bill have come up with absurd excuses for why Americans should support it, including Rep. Jason Chaffetz’ suggestion people stop buying iPhones, and Rep. Jason Smith wondering why we don’t tax the sun.
“Yeah, why don’t they tax the sun?” Meyers asked. “Is it because we already know that an orange ball of gas would never pay its taxes? Is that why?”
