On Tuesday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert reacted to the Republican plan to replace Obamacare. The GOP announced their plan Tuesday morning and critics were quick to note the differences and similarities it has to Obamacare.
“Well, it’s finally here,” Colbert said. “After six years of trying, last night the Republicans finally unveiled their healthcare plan. Then, out of force of habit, they voted to repeal it.”
The new plan will keep Obamacare’s pre-existing conditions rule, young people can stay on their parents’ plan until 26, and “grandma will still be murdered by death panels while Nancy Pelosi cackles from her skybox.”
“Oh, there’s one other thing they’re keeping from Obamacare,” he said: “Nobody likes it.”
But it has been given a name by some news organizations. “Obamacare Lite,” which, as Colbert put it, means “Great taste, less coverage.”
