On Thursday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert mocked Trump for rolling back transgender rights despite claiming not to care where they use the bathroom. “If there’s one thing Trump is famous for, it’s telling people where to pee,” Colbert joked, referring, of course to the “golden shower” leak.
During his campaign, Matt Lauer asked Trump on the Today Show where he would expect Caitlyn Jenner to use the bathroom if she walked into Trump Tower. Trump responded by saying that he didn’t care. “Which is good,” Colbert remarked, “Because I’m guessing right now a lot of trans people would love to take a dump in Trump’s lobby.”
Sean Spicer told the press that Trump sees the issue not as a civil rights issue, but as a states’ right issue. Colbert said, “Grow a pair.”
He also reacted to a report that Education Secretary Betsy DeVos walked back her defense of trans rights. “So Betsy DeVos knew it would harm children and did it anyway to save her job,” Colbert said. “How does she sleep at night? I’ll let the states decide.”
