‘Words fail me’: Colbert can’t believe Trump’s first solo press conference

Well, alrighty then.

On Thursday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert tried to wrap his head around Donald Trump’s first solo press conference as president. Trump held his presser Thursday morning in order to address the media regarding the recent intelligence on Russia, but the event quickly dissolved into madness.

“It’s kind of hard to characterize the press conference,” Colbert admitted. “Words fail me.” But he managed to find a few words to describe the conference, unlike the Fox News anchor who could only muster her best Ace Ventura impression, “Well, alrighty then.”

“He started off by defending the rough start his administration has had by immediately attacking America’s true enemy — anybody but him,” Colbert remarked. Trump began by stating that he had “inherited a mess” from the Obama Admnistration. “No, you inherited a fortune, we elected a mess,” clarified Stephen.

Watch the clip to see Colbert’s reactions to all the highlights, including when Trump asked April Ryan to set up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus for him…because she’s black? “Can you guys get together at your next meeting of the black club?” Colbert mocked. “Can you black people just figure that thing out? You know what, forget it. I’ll have Ben Carson do it.”

  1. Ha ha it was laugh in. ..have some dignity. Stop yelling at the press because you dont like the questions. It is your job to answer every question with respect. These are intelligent hard working people……. your a total mess. Please resign now. The game is over.
