On Tuesday’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah didn’t mince words about newly-resigned National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Trump forced Flynn to resign Tuesday after intelligence officials revealed that he had been in talks with Russia during the presidential election, and had even discussed lifting sanctions with the Russian ambassador.
Many of these conversations took place over the phone, and of course, US agencies were listening in. “He didn’t know the U.S. government routinely taps calls to the Russians,” Noah said. “Which is stupid ― that’s the plot of every spy movie.”
“Donald Trump’s finally draining the swamp of the people he brought to the swamp,” Noah remarked. “President Trump is a genius, people. He hires a cabinet full of terrible people, fires them one-by-one, looks like he’s a man of action. ‘Drain the swamp…down to previous levels!’”
Of course Trevor showed a clip of Kellyanne Conway putting her own spin on the story. “Every time she talks I’m like, ‘Am I on drugs? Up is down, down is up?’ Seriously, guys, you can’t claim that Michael Flynn had the confidence of the president and had to resign because he didn’t have the president’s confidence.”
