Seth Meyers looks at Trump administration’s efforts to downplay Michael Flynn scandal

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was forced to resign Tuesday after Intelligence officials revealed he had been in contact with the Russian ambassador during the 2016 presidential campaign and discussed sanctions with Russian leaders. On Tuesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers took a “Closer Look” at the Trump administration’s efforts to downplay the scandal.

Flynn set a new record by only being in office for 24 days. “Twenty-four days, I use disposable razors for longer than that,” said Meyers. “He didn’t even last as long as a David Blaine stunt.”

“The Justice Department apparently warned the White House weeks ago that Flynn had talked about sanctions and then lied about it, and today, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the White House has been reviewing the situation ‘for weeks,’ and yet, just a few days ago when asked about the Flynn situation, Trump said this,” Meyers said, leading to a clip of Trump completely denying any knowledge.

“Trump sounds like a guy who’s being told there’s a nude scene in a movie he’s definitely already watched,” joked Meyers, impersonating Trump: “Oh, is there? Huh? Well, maybe I’ll check that out. For the first time.”
