Donald Trump calls Stephen Colbert to ask a few basic questions

"Okay, last one: There are two guards. One of them only tells the truth and one of them only tells lies. Which one do I make my press secretary?"

On Thursday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert received a call during his monologue from President Trump, who had a few random questions for the host. Before the call, Colbert discussed Trump’s latest orders and tweets, like his continuous attacks on the judicial system over his immigration ban, and his attacks on anyone who disagrees with him.

Colbert also reported that Trump recently questioned whether a strong dollar or weak dollar was good for the country. “Quick follow up question,” Colbert added, “Should a president know stuff or not know stuff?” Apparently Trump called his Security Advisor Mike Flynn at 3 a.m. to ask that question.

“I find it hard to believe the president of the United States is up late at night calling the wrong people for answers to basic questions,” Stephen remarked before suddenly his phone rang. Trump was on the other end asking basic questions like, “Is it three branches of government or is it four?” and “What came first, Frasier or Cheers?”

Colbert began his monologue discussing the snow storm in New York, before diving into Ivanka’s battle with Nordstrom, Kellyanne’s unethical commercial, and Spicer’s vague response.
