Seth Meyers took a “Closer Look” on Monday’s Late Night at the last few days of Trump’s administration in which the president continued to attack judges who have blocked his immigration ban, defended “killer” Vladimir Putin, and let his advisors spout lies about terrorist incidents that never happened.
“For some, the weekend is a time to rest, relax and spend time with family. But for the Trump administration, it’s a time for making up fake tragedies and openly trying to blame the court system for future terror attacks,” Meyers began, before ridiculing Kellyanne Conway for making up the Bowling Green Massacre while also spreading lies about Obama’s immigration policy. “Even when they’re lying, they’re distracting us from other, worse lies,” Meyers said. “That’s like telling people you have a girlfriend in Canada when really, you have a dead body in the basement.”
“Trump has staked the entire first two weeks of his presidency on the supposed desire to keep bad people from harming the United States,” Meyers said. “And yet, there are apparently some actually bad people that he’s totally fine with.” He then went on the discuss Trump’s defense of Vladimir Putin.
