Stephen Colbert recaps debate between ‘loaf of white bread’ and ‘jar of mayonnaise’

"I'd say Pence's strong performance bodes well for Trump, since everyone knows the team with the best backup quarterback always wins the Super Bowl."

On Tuesday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert went live after the vice presidential debate between Mike Pence and Tim Kaine. Saying “it was like watching a loaf of white bread get pistol-whipped by a jar of mayonnaise,” Colbert admitted there was “Not a lot of flavor” as the two dull, older white men went toe to toe.

“I gotta say, Pence had a good night. There were some surprising admissions from this cultural conservative,” Colbert said of the Indiana governor who pushed an anti-LGBT law, cueing a clip of Pence saying, “I try to spend some time on my knees every day.” Colbert added, “Apparently Mike Pence is also very close with Vladimir Putin. Fair warning, Mike — Indiana businesses can now refuse to serve you.”
