On Tuesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers mocked Donald Trump for his attempts to woo black and Latino voters. Trump recently attended a church in Detroit with Ben Carson, where he was seen “awkwardly swaying back and forth like a dad who brought his kids to a Demi Lovato concert.”
Meyers also couldn’t handle Trump’s recent tweet to the “African-American community,” in which he claimed Democrats have failed them for 50 years, but “I will fix it, VOTE ‘T.'” Seth couldn’t help but wonder, “Is he trying to give himself a nickname to appeal to black voters? Come November 8, vote D. Trizzy, or maybe A$AP Donald, or my personal favorite, Donye Worst.”
Reporters still ask Trump about his infamous “birther” comments about President Obama, but he now refuses to answer questions about the claim that Obama was born in Kenya, saying, “I don’t talk about it anymore.”
“What kind of answer is that?” asked Seth. “You’re a presidential candidate, not Ben Affleck being asked about ‘Gigli.'”
Trump has also struggled to secure the Latino vote, particularly due to his strict immigration policy and plans to build a wall across the Mexico border. When interviewed on MSNBC, a Latinos for Trump leader said without Trump’s immigration policy Americans can expect to see taco trucks on every corner. “Taco trucks on every corner?” Meyers asked. “You can’t threaten people with something they actually want. This is America, the only thing we love more than tacos are tacos that come to us.”
