Seth Meyers takes a “Closer Look” at the upcoming debates between Trump and Hillary

"Hillary is using facts and evidence to document Trump's history of stoking racial resentment. And Trump might think 'bigot' is a compliment because it has the word 'big' in it."

Seth Meyers took a “Closer Look” at the upcoming presidential debates and how each candidate is preparing to face off on Monday’s Late Night. Seth pointed out that while Hillary has been focusing on Trump’s bigotry and association with the alt-right, Trump has been focusing on “I know you are but what am I?”

“There is a difference, though,” Meyers said. “Hillary is using facts and evidence to document Trump’s history of stoking racial resentment. And Trump might think ‘bigot’ is a compliment because it has the word ‘big’ in it.”

As the two candidates prepare for the coming debates, Hillary is poring over briefing books like a lawyer and rehearsing with top debate coaches. “So, just your laid-back classic Hillary,” Meyers joked. “It sounds so intense I wouldn’t be surprised if she was hooked up to a bunch of computers with steroids being pumped into her veins like Ivan Drago. When she shows up to the first debate to shake Trump’s hand she’s going to be like—” Cue the Rocky clip of Drago saying, “I must break you.”

Meanwhile, Trump is playing golf with his counselors and chatting over bacon cheeseburgers and hot dogs.

“On top of the KFC and Taco Bowls if Trump doesn’t get the job of president may I recommend Prilosec spokesman?” Meyers said, joking about the candidate’s food choices.

Rudy Giuliani believes Trump will succeed in the debates because the bar is set so low for him. “That’s right, Trump’s biggest advantage is how low the bar is currently set,” Meyers said. “Basically, as long as he doesn’t walk on stage, take a whiz on the side of the podium and make up a story about how Hillary robbed him at gunpoint, he will exceed expectations.”

Watch the clip to see Meyers talk about possible moderators for the debate.
