Stephen Colbert kicked the Late Show‘s week of live shows Monday with a trippy, hippie song-and-dance number about the inevitability of a Clinton nomination. Last week, Colbert rang in the RNC in Cleveland with a similar musical opening, but this week’s Democratic National Convention is in Philadelphia, so it only makes sense that Colbert bite into an old Philly cheesesteak that sends him on a psychedelic trip.
“You may have felt the Bern, but now it’s time to learn,” Colbert sang. “She is your destiny. Let’s go to the DNC where they love diversity.”
The chorus marks the inevitability of three things: “Death, taxes, and Hillary.”
Watch the clip to see Colbert ring in the DNC, where “The party of the donkey is about to get funky.”
