Seth Meyers looks at Clinton’s VP pick and email hacks ahead of the DNC

Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Tim Kaine, and the email hacks bogging down the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Multiple pundits have called Tim Kaine the boring “safe choice,” and Meyers agreed. “Kaine is so safe he gives speeches in a life jacket,” Meyers said. “He’s so boring he makes Mike Pence look like Guy Fieri.”

Kaine even called himself boring, but there is one obvious reason Hillary chose him as her running mate: He speaks Spanish. Meyers ran a clip of Kaine speaking the language at a rally. “Look at Hillary’s face behind him,” Meyers pointed out. “Look at her! Ha ha ha! Yes! We are enfuego! Mucho Presidente!”

Hillary’s VP pick was not the only big story coming out of the Democratic Party ahead of the DNC. This weekend, WikiLeaks released over 20,000 emails associated with the DNC that showed proof the committee undermined the Bernie Sanders campaign.

“Emails to Hillary are what snakes were to Indiana Jones. ‘Emails? Why did it have to be emails?’ Also, when hearing about this leak, imagine the restraint Hillary has to exercise in not screaming at the top of her lungs, ‘This is why you have a private email server!'”

After the hack, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned and apologized. She was then swiftly hired by the Clinton campaign. “I’m sorry, is this Hillary’s plan to woo angry Bernie voters? First, she overlooked progressive VP choices and chose insider Tim Kaine. Basically, Hillary said, ‘Have you been feeling the Bern? Why not try some Nova-Kaine.’ And then she added Wasserman Schultz to her team, despite her anti-Bernie sentiments. What’s next? I’m impressed she didn’t pants Bernie during his speech tonight.”
