On Tuesday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert interviewed Keegan-Michael Key as the only black Trump supporter at the Republican National Convention. Representing “the one African-American delegate” in Cleveland, Key had on a Trump t-shirt and “Make America Great Again” hat.
He expressed his excitement at the events of day two. “Chris Christie burned a witch earlier, Ben Carson was juggling brains, I didn’t know it was gonna be this entertaining!” he said. “They gave me a hat, they gave me a shirt, they’re always putting me on camera for some reason, I’ve never been so popular in my life.”
“People keep coming up to me and saying, ‘Thank God you’re here,'” he said, mocking the lack of black Republicans. “They keep on saying, ‘You’re one of the good ones, you’re articulate, you’re bright!'”
Stephen wondered what brought him to the convention at the Quicken Loans Arena, and that’s when the truth came out. “I just came by here looking for Pokémon.”
