On Wednesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at Tuesday’s primary results that saw Donald Trump sweep five states in the Northeast. Trump won the primaries in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island, Maryland, and Connecticut by a landslide, and “John Kasich did so badly, they were tracking individual towns to find votes for him,” Meyers says in the clip. “Governor, great news! You swept Maple Street! It’s worth .001 delegates.”
Now that he has won a majority of the delegates and has a path to the nomination, Trump has begun attacking Hillary Clinton, and his biggest critique seems to be, “If Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get five percent of the vote.”
“Trump is less popular with women than the guy in the office who keeps saying he gives the best back rubs,” Meyers says, but he really rips into Trump for belittling Clinton because of her gender. “Hillary aside, this is the kind of shit women have to put up with every day,” he says. “After breaking through systemic barriers and cultural and institutional sexism built up over generations, if a woman achieves anything, she’s told, ‘Oh, well, it’s only because you’re a woman.'”
Watch the clip to see what Seth has to say about Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, and Chris Christie.
