Donald Trump is a misogynist, and on Tuesday’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah dug deep into the archives to show just how extreme his comments about women can be. Trump has been quoted as saying awful things about women over the course of his time as a public figure. Even Howard Stern asked him in the ’90s about his comments about women, and although he denies the exact words, he doesn’t deny the spirit of them. “Wow, Trump’s an asshole, but he’s honest,” Trevor concludes. “Yeah, he’s honestly an asshole.”
To get a real feel for how Trump thinks about women, though, Trevor goes into the Trump archives to show a revealing clip from an early ’90s episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, in which he and then wife Marla Maples discuss their infant daughter, Tiffany.
When asked what the 1-year-old has in common with Marla, Trump says, “Well, I think that she’s got a lot of Marla. She’s a really beautiful baby. She’s got Marla’s legs,” which is weird, but things get worse when he indicates breasts and says, “We don’t know whether or not she’s got this part yet, but time will tell.”
Trevor has to take a full minute to recover from that clip before going on to insist, “He could have said anything! … And he went with legs and possibly boobs, which is not the correct answer.”
If Donald Trump can talk his own infant daughter in such an odd, objectifying way, is it any wonder he says worse things about other women? “We know for sure there’s no female too small for Trump not to reduce her to her body parts,” Noah says.
