The media has called Donald Trump’s campaign “the greatest show on earth” due to its bombastic entertainment, surprising reveals (of racism and xenophobia), and unprecedented popularity. That epithet, however, has always been reserved for the circus world, so Klepper sits down with a circus performer to ask him what he thinks of the Trump show. His response? “By calling him the greatest show on earth, you’re kind of insulting a lot of the circus world,” he says, as though he doesn’t realize that Trump is the biggest clown in the world.
Klepper goes to a Trump rally to see what all the fuss is about, and it doesn’t take long before he finds out. True to form, Trump “whipped the crowd into a frenzy with a high wire act of political incorrectness.” And although he started to meander and lose his audience to boredom in the middle, “like any great showman he pulled them back in with his greatest routine, a feat of xenophobic strength.” Watch the clip to see what leads Klepper to say, “I laughed, I cried, I reinvigorated my irrational fear of foreigners.”
And if you’re wondering about that “Good Will Humping” image at the beginning of the clip, here’s Trevor’s report on PornHub’s philanthropy.
