On Tuesday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert discussed the recent takeover of a government building by militiamen in Oregon. Stephen has “not seen this many angry bearded men in Oregon since I referred to blue moon as a craft beer.” The militia is lead by Ammon Bundy, son of Cliven Bundy, who stood off against the government over grazing rights in 2014. Stephen begins to tell their tell in the most folksy way before playing a clip of Cliven talking about “the negro” and Stephen decides to put the guitar away. But Stephen has an idea of how the government should handle the situation. “Why not let them stay and rename it the Ammon Bundy Preserve for the Armed and Cranky…These confused, fragile, heavily armed creatures need somewhere to live where civilization won’t upset them. They’re clearly endangered, although it’s hard to know exactly how many there are because their camo is so good.” Watch the video to see how Stephen plans to help the endangered men.
