Larry Wilmore joins his friends in Corruption Junction to dumb down the discussion about the Laquan McDonald so even the Chicago police can understand. Larry begins the segment with a few heartfelt words for the victims of the San Bernardino shooting, which was unfolding at the time of the taping. But it only makes him upset, because “this is really unacceptable,” says Larry. “It’s happening too goddamn much.” There have been 355 mass shootings so far this year, and we still don’t have all the answers about one from last year. Laquan McDonald was shot 16 times by Chicago police last October, and it took them 400 days to release video, and only after a judge ordered them to do so. “Back when this video was shot, The Nightly Show wasn’t even on the air, Donald trump wasn’t a presidential candidate, and people had somehow convinced themselves that Meghan Trainor was going to be a thing.” All of this happened while Mayor Rahm Emanuel was in the midst of a contentious re-election race, after which the city gave McDonald’s family a $5 million settlement. Larry says this sounds like a coverup, but in order to get to the bottom of it, he takes a trip to Corruption Junction to learn the ABC’s of Chicago politics with his friends Winkles the Weasel, Garbage Gary, and Jimmy the Crow. Watch the video to see what ‘F’ stands for.
